n00b wiring question

hey fellas, you guys seem to know your stuff around here, so who better to ask:
i have a 2001 tacoma reg cab, 2wd 4 cyl 5 spd. truck did not come with cruise control as an option, but id like to install it. i saw a part available on another website. my q's are: can the cruise control be installed if it wasnt an option? if so, wouldnt it be easier to pull the part from a junkyard?
thanks in advance.

there is more to cruise control than a part....

adding it shouldnt be too hard if you get all the parts off the donor

welcome to the site

If you are pulling it off a donar car you will also need the control box under the hood, cable to tht e throttle body & the TB linkage. The cruse uses a double pull system instead of the single (ie two cables). I am unsure if there are other wires that run to the ECU, maybe someone else has that answer??
