NAPA sells it. Scrape the crap off and redo it. Then you will not need to worry.

Swallow this one: Why would they make "sensor safe" silicone in the first place then?

Lighting a stream of lighter fulid is ok, most of the time. No all of the time.

Does the silicone say which sensors they are safe for? I am guessing there are many other sensors on the truck that do many other things. Are they claiming it's safe for ALL sensors or just ones that detect irregular fumes?

Please allow my ignorance, as I am still quite the noobie, but what
exactly does installing a deck plate do for you?

Oh oh, I can answer that one. Finally I get to feel like I know something and answer a question instead of asking them all the time.
The deck plate mod. allows for more air flow into your engine by putting that huge hole in the front of your air box, and combined with an AMSoil Air Filter there is a noticible difference. The point of the deck plate is that when you got off-road you can put in the deck plates plug and cap the hole, stoping the mud and water from getting in that normaly would if left open. You lose the air flow but protect you filter. It's a great bit of versatility offered for a great price(about 10 bucks for the deck plate). If you haven't done it I would highly suggest it, I just did mine latley and I'm really loving the diff I feel. Just make sure to get sensor safe silicone(unlike I did) so you can avoid sweating it out like I am right now, it's been 2 days and no lights, I think I'm in the clear.

Interesting. I will have to take a look at my airbox and see if something
like that is possible on my little rig. Thanks for the info.

you should be able to do it on your truck, especially if its a 6 cyl - they have a bigger airbox than the 4

mine's a 4 cyl tacoma, and there is room there for me to put one in.

I think you all are getting a tad carried away here.

Once silicone cures there is nothing to worry about. There is no need to go back and remove old silicone, it won't be releasing fumes anymore.

There really is no need to seal the backing of the deck plate anyway. Have any of you noticed all the drain holes in the bottom of the airbox? Just covering the big hole with the lid on the deck plate so it won't get a BIG gulp of water all at once is plenty fine enough.
