Cheap trick by removing an acessory
There might have been a thread about this, but i'll just show it to let everyone know.
If you happen to have pedal covers that go over the existing gas pedal, remove it. The brackets that hold the pedal down to the OEM pedal, prevents the throttle body opening at WOT
No wonder my throttle body was opened only 3 quaters of the way; with the pedal pushed all the way. It also helps to remove anything bunching behind the pedal, so the pedal has room to move freely.
I know it seems silly to WOT a 3.slow, but at least you get "some" performance gain

There are some versions of this out there. Seems like the best way is to tighten up the slack on the throttle cable so you'll have WOT at full pedal depression.

I tightened up the throttle cable, since there was slack in it. And yes there was a noticeable increase in throttle response and acceleration.

i have to go WOT to get up hills on my 91 runner with 3.0. Havent done anything to it, i think ill try tightening the throttle cable which looks like should help a little. Is it an easy thing to do?

Adjusting the throttle cable is very simple; all the tools you'll need are just a 12mm open-end wrench, and some penetrating lube just in case the 2 bolts are stuck.
You should try cleaning your throttle body too, or did you alredy do it?

You will see the two adjusting nuts to get rid of the slack. Just dont go to far or you will have your idle way to high.If you let the engine warm up and have it running while you adjust it you will be able to tell when your raising the idle to much.
For me it would not make any sense to remove the peddle covers because I have never had to floor my 2.7 to pass anyone or climb any of these mountains. Can't afford the gas it would suck up every time I did that anyway,Lol. Mike
