Greetings,
Cobra, 0-100Mph and stopped in under 11 seconds. That is a published spec. Something to think about. I'm sure the Supra runs good also. All I know If I ever met up with either of them at a stop light, I'd make a right turn.

Published specs are crap. You got to take it from rear world experience. It will be close, but never as high as stated.

But also, what year of Cobra. 2002-new have quite a bit more power than 2001-older.

2002-newer cobra will take a stock MKIV supra, but spend less then a dollar, and you can have that stock MKIV supra eating the cobra. Lets see what a dollar would do for a cobra.

Greetings,
I was referring to the 1965 AC Cobra with a 427 Ford Power Plant. Besides, the spec. was'nt published by Ford, it was published by Motor Trend after they tested it. Granted it was on a sticky roadway but that is still some serious acceleration.
And to the debate about Turbo's, blowers, V-8's etc...etc...... I like them all. The faster the better.

I don't believe the 1965 AC Cobra with a 427 could ever be considered a production vehicle. There are many vehicles out there that could totally leave a stock supra in the dust, but not many production vehicles. You are talking about a whole different class of cars. Not to mention the price tag.

I can build an 800rwhp 2JZ for under $6,000(assuming I already have the motor).

Vipers in stock form in my "opinion" are junk. Huge motor with small HP/L. I will tell you what though. A forced induction viper is nothing to joke about. They are increadibly fast. As mentioned earlier, a modded viper will take out a heavily modded supra. You got to compare the size of the engines though. The 2JZ has more potential for HP/L, than the viper, but the viper has a much larger engine.

Then again, how many modded vipers do you see? Very few. A viper is more of a status symbol than a fast car. And as all of my friends know(I HATE STATUS SYMBOLS), but that is just an opinion of mine. Everything else is based on actual facts.

It is JDM, so ECU, harness, injectors, and turbos will still be needed.

additional cost of about $1,000

Greetings,
The Cobra was certainly a production car. It was required to be a production car in order to race in the class it did.
Sure Cobra's command a steep price today, but back in 65, you could have purchased a Corvette or Cobra for the same money. Production numbers being very low and the performance of the car is what drove the prices up.

Again, I like all cars. I also like seeing what people do with the cars. So if you have a Supra that pumps out 600+ horse, all I can say is this: I WANT A RIDE.

factory Elocker as an option unless you got the 8.4, which is way beef and a great set up for the 2jz

Heres a pertinent build thread on pirate4x4 on a 2nd gen 2jz swap, thought you might be interested, theres some really nice fab work in there.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=759603

On another note, the factory five cobra my dad and I built has a 351w in it, and in a 2200lb car everything feels fast, even if it isn't a full on 427. Good luck with the project/swap!

Looks like one of those 2JZs just developed 1.21 Gigawatts as it hit 88 miles per hour.

Since it's already resurrected, did you ever finish the swap?
