Has anyone modified a stock bumper ('84-'95) to fit around the Trail Gear winch mount?

I plan to reinforce the front frame with a brace from Front Range, and then I want to use the Trail Gear winch mount, but keep a somewhat stock appearance (no tube or plate bumpers). I have searched, but found no examples.

Yes! That's exactly what I have in mind!

Did you just use the stock bumper brackets and mount them over the winch mount? Also, do you have a picture from the side, showing the profile of the bumper and winch mount?

Why would you want to? The stock bumper is weaksauce.. It's like 1/8th inch rolled C channel..

Mine was a Toyota prototype. It's made from 3/4" titanium.

i did exactly that on my 1992 4runner. sas, no body lift. looks and works perfectly. if you still wanting the pics i'll post.

its more of just stamped steel.. but.. yes its weaksauce. I believe someone made them to absorb impact for safety ratings. Pretty sure they weren't made to winch off of or be lift points.

It's a decent idea to keep the wieght down and off the ifs but still have the ability to pull your truck out of trouble. Just make sure you weld the bolts for the winch or get locks for it.
