odd question of the day...
I was think'n about something today and wanted to get some other people's opinions and/or facts.
What defines a Toyota truck as a Hilux? If I'm reading right according to Wikipedia, it's technically any truck produced between 1947 and 1995. If this is so, would that make my 91 4wd a true Hilux?
I'm just curious because I got the windows tinted and have to sun-strip across the front and would like to put some wordage across it, and If it can be defined as a Hilux, that may be what I put on it.
Thanx guys!

Toyota dropped the Hilux nameplate for the North American trucks in favor of "Truck or Pickup" depending on where you are looking. Technically, your truck is not a Hilux, but, mechanically speaking, they are very similar. As far as putting Hilux on your windsheild, I'd say its a valid idea...

Well, lets start simple:
HILUX:
Well the first part is "HI", meaning it is higher than the other ones.
And the second part is "LUX" meaning is is more luxurious.
There you go, problem solved.
An "odd" question deserves an "odd" answer.

I'd say its valid since its just an american version of a Japanese Hilux. It still has all the same mechanicals minus some engine options and other stuff that wasnt offered. Know if you had a tacoma, then id say no.

That's what I was afraid of, lol. I have no intentions on making it a poser, so that's why I was just seeing what you guys thought. Maybe just TOYOTA in big white letters will be fine, lol.
