Does my ECM need to be "reflashed"?
Looks like time for a tranny cooler as well.

When you say that the truck runs better with the CEL cleared, can you expound on how it runs "bad"? You mention "shifting perfectly", so what's "imperfect?
Did you contact the guy that Jamie (MTL_4runner) found?

Did you contact rudestar (bottom of page one of this thread)? Looks like he's got quite a line on ECUs on the cheap.

when the CEL is on, the tranny seems to shift "uncertainly". In other words, it shifts, then shifts back between 3rd and OD. Again, it's really subtle. I can't get it to misbehave on demand. The CEL goes on as soon as I start the truck, everytime. I read the link, different problem than mine. I think I'll try another ECM, as long as I can return it.
thanks

Past that though, let's talk a bit more about the symptoms...
Does this happen at all engine/road speeds?
You say the effect is subtle... I just tried something on the way home about this. My engine spins around 1500 RPM in OD at 30 mph. If I turn off OD, I bounce to about 1650 RPM. When this shift thing happens to you, do you see the RPMs come up?

Same component - different error
I was about to send the ecu (89661-34140) from my '95 T100 4x4 (220000 miles) to a rebuilder when I came across this thread. My mechanic (AP auto mech instructor - not looking for $$) reported a weak or intermittent signal to one O2 sensor (didn't get the code). The engine is missing - especially when cold. Wondering how to proceed. Rudestar, do you have that model ecu? Willing to part with it?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
