tacoma auto tranny dip stick

The tranny dip stick on my 2000 Tacoma doesn't want to go back in. I bought a new one and it doesn't want to go in either. Any one have this problem? Thanks

Are you sure you have it turned the right way. I know mine will not go in unless it is turned the right way. try rotating it as you put it in.

Hold the dipstick about an inch above the top of the dipstick tube as you're pushing down to put it back in, and like mentioned above, try rotating it to a different orientation before putting it in.

x2...Mine only goes in one way. If it won't go in, I rotate it 1/4 of a turn, and it slides right in.

Yes.

They suck.

Just use force.

Seriously.

My 97 runner 3.4 and 2000 tacoma 3.4 are the same pieces of crap to install. Like mentioned, cram the thing in there if you can not find an easy position. Some day I am going to drop the pan and figure out how Toyota blew this one at the design table and/or in the manufacturing process.

It's due to the 2-piece design of the dipstick tube, it just tends to hang up on the joint portion.
