LIGHTEST, cheapest, easiest way to get 400hp for my prerunner
I have a 93 SR5 3.0 EX-cab 4X4 that I'm building up with a total Chaos long travel suspension for rippin around the dunes and jumping the motorcycle jumps at my track. the 3.O dosent run anymore so it's time to get a little more motorvation and ditch the manual trans for an auto. I'm looking to get in the 400hp+ range and connect it to a 4+speed auto tranny. It has to be LIGHT so I can jump it (all aluminum block!), adapt to the stock transfercase, and I have be able to buy motormounts and all that other adapter stuff for it.
I am looking for advice from anyone who has experience, since I already built one prerunner that I didnt like, I took the advice from Downy off road and put a 220hp+ vortec 4.3L/4L60 in a 91 2X4 EX-cab. It was an awesome truck for the first year and of course I got bored with it's power and went to upgrade it and get more power out of it. and couldnt find anything but a superchip for it. Soooo aftermarket support is also very imoprtant.
It looks like a Chevy LS/4L60, 3.4supercharged/toyota auto or a turbo'd 2.7 are some options. it's all about the cheapest lightest easiest to swap really. I'm open to anything really. as long as it does what I want it to do.

I wouldn't recommend it for your swap though. Being an inline 6 you have to cut the rad support apart and place an after market rad about 2 inches forward of stock location and some firewall "modification" with a bfh . I have 1/4" between my harmonic balancer and my electric fan. When it flexs upon landing that might cause some touching/breaking. That also puts the weight very far forward which you probally don't want for jumping. Although it is fun racing shiny sports cars on the highway when your covered in mud...they never expect it.

A few shots in my profile but none under the hood. Eventually I'll start up a build thread.
The only aluminum blocks I know of are chev 350s. But those will cost you an arm and a leg. You can easilly get your 400hp out of it though! There are bound to be more of them out there but this is where my age and lack of knowledge about other engines becomes a burden.
