your whole plan is fatal sorry to say it

sure you could probably pull the piston down and out of the motor through the bottom, but you HAVE to remove the cylinder head to install new pistons

Even if you could get the pistons out the bottom, how are you going to get them back in considering you have to compress the rings?
Also, if you're going to replace the pistons and rings, you'll need to hone the cylinders.
And before you hone the cylinders you should check the cylinders for taper, out-of-round, etc. ream the ridge at the top, and have the block machined as necessary to correct any deficiencies and this could require oversized pistons.

If it hasn't become obvious already, the pistons can not be pulled out through the bottom of the engine even with the crankshaft out.

Yeah, silly you for even posting a worthless reply.

Anyway, I brought this up, because a buddy at work is set in his way that it could be done. So I thought that I would ask.

You have to be talking about the picture while I was deployed to Al U Deid. Which let me say for the record wasn't planned at all... and yes I really DISLIKE Ozzy... So that says that you are or were in the 48IS..

The guess is.. wait for it... wait for it.... Nick!!??
