Hey everyone.

I'm going to attempt to fix my rear window, the track is rusted snapped in half.

Anyone have the part number for the metal track, rear window? The sales rep at toyota said the rear window track came in 2 peices, a left and a right about $25 each. I have the old rubber from the old track.

Can anyone confirm this ? I thought you buy the replacement track as one assembly...

I think if you give them your vin they should know if which part number you need to order. The track just fits over th rubber. I would order new rubber to. Might make putting the window in easier. I wasnt aware that the track came in a right or left hand.

For my '93, part numbers (and current prices at www.TRDParts4u.com) are as follows:

Tailgate Left Glass Channel (P/N: 69907-35020, Price: $12.29)
Tailgate Right Glass Channel (P/N: 69907-35010, Price: $12.29)
Tailgate Glass Channel Rubber Filler (P/N: 69971-35020, Price: $8.88 each. Need 2 of these)

Their website says the above part numbers are good for all years between 1990 and 1995.

I replaced mine about a year ago before I sold my '93 4Runner, and I also would recommend buying the new rubber fillers, and use some dish detergent soap to lubricate the rubber filler and channel before trying to mount them to the glass. They go on TIGHT.

This is my latest yota issue. Glass started to come down, then made some nasty noise and hung up.
Here's what I found laying inside the bottom of the tailgate:

It came off the passenger side of the glass shown here

which I guess means that now the entire rear window is being supported by this (driver's side)

which looks not much better than the one that broke.

Questions:
How tough a job is it to replace these pieces by yourself? I guess you would have to support the glass somehow while you put these on, and is it just a matter of fitting the little roller into the guide and then sliding the piece onto the glass? I guess I should know what these pieces are called, too.
Has anyone seen a writeup on doing this?

You have to take the glass right out of the tailgate to do it (well... I shouldn't say have to, because you might be able to do it with the glass in the tailgate, but it will be much easier if you take the glass right out). I posted the names, part numbers, and prices of the parts above (for a '93 4Runner, anyways).

So, would I lower the glass part/most of the way, then lower the tailgate and slide it out? I didn't remove the molding on the top of the tailgate yet, but in doing that would I then have enough space for the glass with the channels attached to go in and out?

I just had the same problems after I just fixed the moter in the rear window.I was able to lower the window but couldn't lift it backup. I then saw that the track on the bottom has completely rusted out and the window can't go up or down anymore. It's a 1990 4runner, so I'm guessing that taking one from a wrecker would be a good way to go or just get the part directly from Toyota?

Up to you, but I don't know if you'll find them in decent condition on a salvage vehicle, and if you do I'm wondering how difficult it would be to get them off of it. I bought them new from a dealership -- both channels and the rubber fillers -- a year ago for a total of $59. I figured if I was going to go to the trouble to repair it, for that price it was worth buying new.

Thanks! I'm just hope this is the only problem left with the window, I have been looking forever for the motor and now this happens. I will let you know when I get the tracks and if anything else goes wrong.

so I just replaced my tailgate. I am trying to get the window back on the tracks and it is driving my crazy. Is there a trick or do I have to take the tracks off the window(rusted on) and then glue the window back onto the tracks???

Hey all, new here, just bought myself a 93 4Runner and have the exact same problem with the tailgate. The part #'s you provided should help me out big time, I do have one question to add to it though...

On the arm that has the nub is a little plastic grommet or something similar that runs in the grooves on the track,...do they come with the track or do i have to buy them separately??? mine or worn out. temporary fix i sued snowmobiling gasline and zipties until i can get the correct parts to resolve my issues.

2nd question along the same lines....
my rear passenger door window seems to be off the track as well,..but i can't figure out how to get the door handle off the side panel. everything else comes off just fine, but the stupid thing won't budge. any tricks or suggestions for removing it so i can have a look see at the window track?
