Question Low Fuel Level/ Check Engine Light

Ran a search didnt see this particular question answered. Truck runs fine all levels/temp/charge all good. The check engine light came on and the only thing I could determine is I ran the fuel level too low. This is the first time I have done so. So, could the low fuel level cause the "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" to come on. I noticed no missing etc...when the light came on. Is this as simple as clearing the code?

the gasket on the filler cap might be worn out, this can cause the light to come on.

just pull the code. its free, its easy, and it'll tell ya whats wrong.

but, yes pulling the negative wire/efi fuse for a few mins will reset the code as well as the entire ecu.

I've seen one instance where running out of fuel caused a check engine light to come on. The code was for "engine running too lean".

MANY things can cause check engine light to come on. You an reset the ECU by pulling the large EFI fuse under the hood; that way you don't reset any radio stations/codes/etc.
