True enough ... it's been my experience on here though that that is the question behind the question... and usually, people who NEED a SAS know what all is involved.

As to the OP question - it depends on your skill level and/or how much you want to spend for the stuff you can't do. A properly done SAS will drive as well as stock, a poorly done SAS is a deathtrap. This is NOT something you want to be learning to weld on.

I'd say it depends on whether you want to build a piece of crap or something cool.

Piece of crap is easy. Go to the junk yard, buy some stuff for a few hundred bucks. Hack off the IFS, and weld on the stock crap. One piece to weld on up front for the hanger, and another two in the back for shackle tubes. Easy.

Something cool with links and coiled up springs and good shocks is harder. But, ultimately, will ride better, flex better, and be a whole lot stronger. Might want to throw the old wallet away though, won't be anything to put in it for a while.

There is a whole Solid axle Swap section ...

Honestly though, unless you have a TON of money in mods on your 2WD, your best bet is to sell it and buy a 4WD.
