I got an 86 4x4 pickup extra cab, automatic with 102,000 original miles on it that I picked up a month or so ago for $1000. Truck is very clean and runs absolutely perfect except the frame is shot. I searched on here and couldn't find an answer so I figured id ask you guys. What year frames will work for an 86? Sorry if it's a dumb question. Totally new to the yota world

84/85 for a solid axle. 86-88 for an IFS. 86-88 would be what would be an exact match. Standard cab and extra cabs are different lengths.

You will need a extra cab frame, but you can use one if it came with a carburator setup. You will need to change out the fuel tank and the botto line on the passenger side of the frame to keep it fuel injected, if it is fuel injected.

I know where there is an excab frame in Arkansas for sale. PM for info if you are interested. Here is a link on frame swaps, https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post51693382 I have done a few, it is easy. Later on this summer I am pulling the body of my 85 Excab and am going to post some better info.

If your in Wisconsin it is going to be quite expensive to ship a frame from any place down south.

With the rust in the rockers, cab corners, fender and frame...I personally would be looking for a different truck altogether with mechanical issues.

To each his own, but that definitely truck doesn't look worth a frame swap to me.
