I've got the fluid sitting in my garage and i need to order a new filter w/ the pan gasket. probably gonna end up doing it next week. Well i found out more about that procedure. You actually flush it 3 times because you can only drain a fraction of it @ a time because the rest of the fluid is in the tranny and not just sitting in the pan. so it's kind of a 3 day change. Anyone who's changed their atf have any advice?

Yeah hook it up to a BG flush machine, done in 5 mins. Or you can do a home flush if you're carefull. Here's some good info: http://www.gadgetonline.com/TransFlush.htm

Sounds like your fluid is ok - if it wasn't (and for the sanity of others) I recomend a full 2 flushes.... to make sure the fluid and tranny are clean. Also a tranny cooler is a good idea if you havelow gearing and big tires or if you are towing at all. Sounds like you are on the right track though...

i actually ended up flushing it 5 times because i you can't actually get the old fluid out without hooking it up to a machine. All you can do is dilute it with new fluid. Seems to be shifting much smoother now.
