1990 toyota dlx 3.0 5 speed steering box leak....Repair???
I have a 90 toyota ext cab 3.0 4x4 that has been loosing power steering fluid. I think I tracked it down to the steering box where the steering wheel shaft meets the box. Can I rebuild the box or install an o-ring? Or is it something where you replace the whole part? The power steering wines a bit when going lock to lock but it's not terrible. I also noticed that after I added fluid to full and started the truck and went lock to lock that the fluid was foamy...I'm assuming the leak lets in a bit of air... is there any vacuum lines that could do this...maybe a bad check valve letting air in?

here's the manual (where you should always start):

RockAuto sells remans for about $200-250. Considering the special tools and clearance checks called out in the manual, I think I'd go with a reman myself.
That is assuming you have correctly located the leak. Be sure the entire area is sparkling clean before you try to find leaking fluid.
