Rear window wont open :(
My 85 4Runner gave up finally on rolling the rear window up n down.
I cant get the door open with the window up so Im trying to do this fix from the inside. I havnt been able to find anything helpfull on the internet and my haynes manual only explains the exploded view of the components in there.
Has anyone had this problem and whats the best way to go about fixing it.
Thanks in advance

I have bypassed all factory wiring on mine. At first I was just running a on-off-on momentary switch off the battery, wired directly to the rear window motor. Now I am running 12voltguy's setup on all 3 of my power windows.
You can start by removing the access panel to the tailgate from inside, and unplug the window motor. Jump the motor leads off the battery, if it wants to go up, reverse your wires and it will roll down.

Ok the motor has this lil wire harness coming off it with 4 wires.
2 White wires obviously ground wires
1 Red wire w/ white plug
1 Black wire w/ blue plug
what wires do I contact with battery leads to test motor?
what are the lil components pointed to with the yellow arrows?
Im really sorry for the n00by questions but Im learning alot from you guys every time Im on yotatech. I love this place..

Im pretty sure its not either of those... I just did mine the other night. The plug on my 1st gen is under the sheet metal right outside the bottom right corner of your picture. Just feel around you will find it. If not let me know and I can take a picture of where mine was.

i've got a 95 so i'm not sure if it's the same for 80's models but did you check to make sure that you have the rear wiper off and the child window lock is off?

lol, yeah, when searching about this I was laughing about how many people started threads about this subject and the thread ended with a big DUHHH the child window lock was on.
My 85 has no child window lock option though.
Now Im in the process of learning how to wire in a switch for a direct jumper to this rear window motor. Im not much of an electrition either

Do you by chance have a wire diagram of how to wire one of these on-off-onn switches..?
