No power to fuel pump with test jumper jumped

Hey, I am a newbie and have looked down a bunch of threads looking for my particular problem. My '85 4Runner was stored for 2 years, battery replaced and driven twice. The next time it wouldn't start. I checked and do have spark to the plugs. The next thing I checked was for power to the fuel pump. I have checked this in the past by just unplugging the plug to the tank and checking the plug coming from up front with a 12v test light. On my other trucks it would pulse when cranking. This time it didn't pulse or anything. I tried jumping the test plug on the driver side fender (the non-round one) but still got nothing.
Where do I go from here? Please help.
I was so suprised that this old truck of mine is giving me any trouble as it has been ultra dependable for years.
Thanks

Do you hear the CO relay in the passenger side foot well area click when you turn the ignition on with the test jumper installed?

If not, that relay or the wiring may be bad or any of the fuses or relays upstream from there. If it does click, then check the wiring to the pump for continuity.

Okay today I cranked it over and did notice a click in the cab but it didn't sound like it came from the pass kick panel at all. It kind of sounded like it was coming from the dash somewhere. I stuck my head in through the passenger door to listen while I cranked it over and the sound seemed to come from the middle of the dash. Of coarse still no start.

I disabled the starter as you suggested and took the kick panel cover off and I definately heard the clicking of the relay. Thats the circuit opening relay, right? Do I still need to test it or is the clicking a confirmation that it is working? I haven't actually taken the ECU out of the way to see this clicking box yet.

Have you tested the AFM yet...
Sounds like theres a problem with the power getting from the FP to the COR then back the the AFM....

The AFM is inside the air box:

But it is another thing that makes the CO relay turn on when the engine is running. If the CO relay is not turning on with the test jumper installed, then the AFM won't make it turn on either.

The CO relay clicks with the test jumper installed or not installed while cranking.

Well there are two parts to a relay, the magnetic coil and the contacts. Clicking means the coil is intact and magnetizing when power is applied (either via the test jumper or via the STArt signal). But if the contacts are dirty or pitted it may not be making electrical contact. To test that you could pull the relay and insert a jumper into the two output contacts pins on the relay socket and see if the pump gets power. If so the relay is bad, if not the wiring between the relay and the pump is bad:

Thanks. Excellent explanation. I was just going to take out the relay but then some wet stuff started to fall from the sky. I'll just kick it until this rare socal phenomena ends. I'll let you know what happens.

I'm currently in Valley Center. Yeah Ocotillo is cool but have you gone pass there to Truckhaven? Lots of hills there.

I had the exact same problem on my 86 turbo 4runner. I converted it to a regular 22re. Never did find the problem I checked all the stuff you talked about. But mine seemed to be intermitent about the time I think I had stumbled upon the problem it would mess up again. I finally gave up on this truck and wired a jumper off the cigerette lighter.
