Lock-Right Locker Review

I just purchased a powertrax lockright lunch box locker and i havent seen too many reviews on them so i will do one...first i would like to say i am very happy with Lowrangeoffroad. that is where i ordered it from and they beat everyone elses price for the 4cyl. rearend by a longshot. i got it for 285$ shipped and it came quick with no problems. I installed the locker with just a friend for an extra set of hands. i am 17 and in high school so i dont have tons of wrenching experience but for me installation was a breeze. i installed it in a little under 4 hours from pulling in the garage to backing out. i have now wheeled with it quite a few times in the past month and a half and i love it. its by far the best 285$ ive ever spent. it seems to be pretty durable but i also dont beat my rig,my rule to wheel on is, spinning tires = broken parts. it takes a little getting used to for street driving but it is not bad at all. just learn to be gentle on the skinny pedal and clutch to coast around sharp town corners. it always engages when i need it and it is not harsh, you dont usually even know it locks usually until your rear tire is flexed 4' off the ground
overall i would recommend this locker to anyone who wheels and doesnt beat their rig to death. very satisfied and well worth the money. definately a 10 out of 10.

Here's a dumb question....

What is involved in the install?

I've pulled my third to replace the pumpkin housing and read here and there about lockers and gears, but installation of gears seems pretty specialized and complicated....is a locker pretty easy to do?

What are the street characteristics you mention? Tires chirping? Extra tire wear?

What are the benefits off road this gives over other lockers and why did you choose it?

the idea behind the lockright is that it is just a drop in thing. for mine you just take the spider gears out and put the locker in. most loskers come with pretty good directions

the best thing i know to tell you is read alot of write ups and be sure you know what your doing before you start. also make sure everything is done right. i honestly though it was fairly easy. and as far as tires chirping and wear, you will learn to compensate and adjust your driving style. the idea of a locker is to give you 100% lock up when needed offroad but make on road driving and tire wear as if you were open differential. kindof the best of both worlds.

so the on road driving isnt bad at all besides changing your driving style to compensate and tire wear isnt bad at all kinda like open diffs

I know this is an old post and a silly question but can i pull the lock-right lockers out of a rear 5.29 and install them in my stock 4.11? Or do i need a different size locker?
