Cobra 19 DX IV vs. Midland 1001z

I am looking for a decent CB and not sure which to get. I'd like to go with a smaller model for the fact that it fits in place of the ashtray in the 2nd generation 4Runners.

Which of the two CBs would be the better one?

I haven't seen an install write up for the Midland 1001z. Does that fit right into the ashtray slot after taking out the bracket or does anything have to be cut out?

Thanks for the info.

I had the opposite experience with UPS, they delivered it tothewrong address. I emailed Procura.com under advisement from UPS.They contacted UPS and had them call me to correct the problem andthe package delivered a few hours later.

At 4.5" wide the 1001z might need a little trim to fit also depending on the model vehicle/options you have space behind may be limited the unit is over 7" long.
The 19dx is about the same width but is almost an inch less deep then the 1001z.

No, I'm not set on anything yet. As I was searching I found a couple people that mounted a Cobra 18 WX ST II, in dash under the stereo head unit. I like that location better than in place of the ashtray.

So the CB you mention, is it a better quality than the other 2 or better because it's a whole kit for about the same amount of money? Or both?

This would be a great setup. I have a uniden radio like this and it is the best cb that I have ever owned. There is a mod to this radio where you can get 15-20 watts out of it.
BTW- I had a midland at one time and it was the worst radio I have ever owned

Georgiayota, what are the details on the mod? What exactly does increased watts do? I don't know much about CBs..
