$8 traction Bar

Saw a thread on here that linked a thread on pirate of a guy that used this design of traction bar.
I was getting some axle wrap with my 63'' chevies, and I rolled the dice, emptied my piggy bank, and hit the scrap metal yard. I bought some 1'' sch. 40 tube and 1/4'' plate
It solved the axle wrap problem.

Great but, what's gonna keep that 1/4" plate from twisting like a candy cane when the axle articulates? Everything looks hard mounted without any bushings or heims to allow for flex.

The bolt that runs thru the tube on the axle housing allows the upright to twist as needed. I also put a grease zerk on the tube to allow easier greasing of the bolt.

I took it out yesterday and beat on it pretty good, and it flexed out fine.

I'll take it out this weekend, and flex it out. I take some pics, and post them up. If anything I will lower the front support so the arms are at 90* when the truck is sitting flat.

It's probably not going to be a matter of pure articulation. The issue with the arm length(s) being so short is going to be the amount of anti squat that's going to cause under acceleration. The general consensus is that you want them long so you have as little of it as possible. Unless you're looking to strictly drag race, and not drive it on the street or offroad. Then you'd, typically, want as much of it as possible.

Forward acceleration anti-squat is calculated in a similar manner and with the same relationship between percentage and weight transfer. Anti-squat values of 100% and more are commonly used in dragracing, but values of 50% or less are more common in cars which have to undergo severe braking. Higher values of anti-squat commonly cause wheel hop during braking. It is important to note that, while the value of 100%...in either case...means that all of the weight transfer is being carried through the suspension linkage, this does not mean that the suspension is incapable of carrying additional loads (aerodynamic, cornering, etc.) during an episode of braking or forward acceleration. In other words, no "binding" of the suspension is to be implied

I was going to build a long wishbone 1 link set up, but this truck never sees
any form of rocks.

I wanted something simple to cure the axle wrap I was getting, and after searching , came up with this one. The guy that I got this idea off of, just disappeared right in the middle of his build, so I don't know if it worked on his rock crawlin rig or not.

I think it was somebody on here that did something like this, but made the link about three feet long out of tubing, much like a four link, but it was a one link set up.
