TRD & OME or just OME Suspension Lift....Need to make decision!
I know this is long but please read it...because i need help
Ok, so I know there is a huge amount of information about this and trust me i have killed it all in the last couple of days.. BUT, I'm still not a getting a definite answer. Some people say the OME front springs are waaaaay too stiff and others say that they are ok. Let me tell you guys what i'm looking for and maybe PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE on the lift can give me some feedback. A suspension is a big thing and I want to make sure I do it ok and get my moneys worth out of it so please understand my worry. Now, I want the suspension to have a nice and sturdy feeling but I do not want to to knock my teeth loose from my head. Nor do I want myself trying to avoid bumps in the road because i'm afraid they are going to shake the whole car. Basically I don't want a very stiff ride. I know this sounds weird but I want a sturdy feeling ride with a good dampening feeling. My friend put an OME lift on his Cruiser and it was stiffer than the stock but at the same time softer if you know what I mean.... UGH its hard to explain.... Plus, I want to be able to fit 265/75's with a good bit of flex. So this means I need around 2.5 -3.0 inches of lift. I DO NOT want more than 3.0 inches as I want the car to handle well on the road. Now that you have an idea of what I am looking for please give me some suggestions on what you guys think... This is what I had in mind: Option 1: Front: TRD Coils on Bilstein 5100 Struts Rear: OME 890's and Some sort of Bilstein shocks I have heard very good things about the Bilstein shocks but now I have heard that they may be a little too harsh...If there are better options please suggest them....(I'm not looking for $400 dollar shocks either) Option 2: TOYTEC OME3-RUN Lift from http://www.toyteclifts.com/96024runn...runnerliftkits I really really appreciate any suggestions so please make them... Thank you!!! ![]()

Well many people like the 890 and tundra setup. I was in the same boat before. I dont want tonnes of lift if any, as i was higher with the 99 coils but needed a solid yet comfortable ride.. stiffer than stock, yet softer, just like you said. I went with the OME setup with 880 and 906's with comfort shocks..in hind sight maybe should have gone with the 881's up front, but im happy for now..rides schweet. oh ya,,it flexes like a mofo

You sound like your looking for the same thing as me. I just installed NWORs "Luxury Ride" package. Drop me a line in a couple of weeks and I'll let you know what I think of it....

Cool stuff I was actually looking to sending an application to Wofford...i'm gonna be a senior at Dreher this coming year....but ya it sounds good to me i'll give u a pm or something and we can discuss it through there or the phone....I would really like to see it before I get it and feel the ride....sounds like a good plan to me
I'm thinking 265/75 tires with the lift....no body lift....do you think those would fit nicely or should I go smaller bigger? personally i think the 285's would be a little too big even if they barely clear. I want a good bit of flex also...

Thanks for the help everybody,
But I still need suggestions on the shocks and what kind of ride they give....(Coils also) are the 890's pretty stiff....are the OME shocks up front a bad idea?....etc Thanks

NWOR package
Took it out for a ride today. Very stiff ride- perhaps a little too stiff- it works for me though. I wanted a to get rid of that mushy tacoma ride and get something that would do everything. Before the swap, I tossed 15 80# bags of concrete in mine and the damn thing bottomed out. NWORs package supposedly increased the capacity by 750lbs over stock. It really does ride like a truck though.
I wanted something that would do everything. Corner good on road, carry lots of gear, take me hunting and fishing, and still tow the boat. I think this package will do all that. A little too stiff if you're a serious offroader and want a lot of offroad flex, but..... I'll know more after this weekend when I head up into the hill looking for the stupid elk for this fall... from what i've heard your 265's should be fine and give you plenty of flex, that's why im gettin a body lift also, so i can get flex w/ my 285's-that is when i get them and after i lift it, d@*m summer school

you can fit the 265's with no lift, with no rub at full stuff.

Be aware that the shocks (valving) have much more to do with ride stiffness or softness than the spring rate.
