Another way to install sliders

Here is schematic of how I installed my Stubbs sliders. It was a lot of work, but I feel well worth the effort. The advantage is that they will come off in 5 minutes with an impact gun allowing maintenance or repair, as all the nuts are held captive. If I were to sell the truck, I would just remove the sliders and re-install the bolts leaving little evidence of their existence. They are also plenty strong, as I have lifted the truck with them. The only modification to the frame was holes drilled for the bolts. This loss of strength should be regained by the fact that all the holes now have bolts clamped through them with fender washers. I have experienced NO squeaking or any other problems whatsoever. I will write a full review when I get some more time.

Lawyers have made this country into a place where I must inform everyone that I take no responsibility for any damages or injury incurred by any of this information.

These are the nuts welded to fender washers which were fished through holes in the frame and pop riveted to retain them. The flat spots on the washers are because they were too big to fit through the holes in the frame in their original condition.

This is the tool I used to fish the nuts and washers into the frame, where I then held it in place with a nut on the outside while I drilled the holes for the rivets and then riveted them in place.

Hey nice idea there. What hole did you fish the washers through?

There are a bunch of rectangular holes in various places on the frame, I just picked the closest one for each hole.

Thanks for the praise

That's a similar idea that my friend came up with since he was kind of against welding the sliders on and said bolting them on would be better since sometimes welds will hold so good you'll bend the frame. With bolts you'll have a "give" spot and while you might risk some body damage it's still cheaper than having the frame straightened.

Good point,

I think that they are a little flexier than if they were welded, which I like. It has to be less traumatic to the frame.
