What year Landcruiser to buy?
I am looking into getting a Landcruiser...Specifically a FJ80.
I hear or it seems that everyone drools over the 1997 Cruiser, but those all seem so expen$ive...I don't want to spend too much more than $10K, maybe $13K. I was looking at possibly a 1993 or 1994. Is that possible. Also any hints on things to check for or problem areas.
thanks in advance

Take a look at IH8Mud . There is a load of info there on LCs in general.
Also take a look at Christo Slee's Newbie Guide . It explains the differences between 80 series model years and has a checklist on what to look at before buying one.

Check out http://www.sleeoffroad.com , too. They have a really good section about mods and tech, and you can compare the different model years and how easy it is to do the mods you want, on each year.
I've done alot of legwork, and decided I want a '93 or '94. The reason is because 91 and 92 didn't have the full-floating rear axle, or the electric locking differentials, and I prefer the interior and front clip styling before it was changed in '95. Call me a purist, but I believe a Land Cruiser needs to say "TOYOTA" in big metal letters on the grille.
Keep checking Ebay. You can find a decent '94 LC with lockers and leather for like $8K. Then you'd have money left over for a good front bumper, and some decent rubber.
Hey, incedentally, if anyone wants to trade their '93 or '94 LC for my built '92 4Runner, PM me...
