Write-up for polishing/sanding dulled headlights? can't find it

I remember a while ago someone posted some before and after pics of a car they had with dulled plastic headlights. They sanded down I think and then polished the front housing? Anyone remember? I have a friend that has a older RX300 and his headlights at so cloudy he can't really see any night anymore.

That's a big problem with Jeep Grand Cherokees. Here's a writeup.

I just use rubbing compound, go over it about 3x and voila shiny as new.

Good writeup there, I was looking for how to do that on my Civc since one headlight has obviously been replaced in an accident and the owner clearly went the cheapo route so the part was in much worse shape than the original.

Back in the days, us Lexus guys used Meguiars scratch X remover... Put some elbow grease on it and it would remove some yellow and shine up real well... If you have a buffer, it helps alot... If it is really bad, might want to use sandpaper though.

I tried Scratch-X with a buffer first on the headlights I was doing and it made them a little clearer, but I think the pitting and yellowing was just too deep. It really needs the wetsand treatment if the problem is any deeper than a few microns.

The Scratch-X does work awesome on the guage cluster and any interior plastic.
