That was a Subaru forum...the guy said he was going to do that and someone called the dealers in his area and told them what he did. He didnt get his WRX fixed as a result. If they want to fix it though and they know what happened...then A-OK.

I assume this was your first experience with N20.. right? I think you did what a lot of people do... just hook it up and go.

If you would have used unleaded race fuel or a good booster then you would still be running. N0S makes a decent booster as well and you can find it in the part stores. NX is still the best IMO though.. smells just like pure alcohol. You have or order it though online.

As for the Digital 4.. I've never heard of it. I am only aware of the Digital 6 and 7 series. I assume if the Digital 4 will work with your motor then the 6 should as well.

I think the service tech told him to take everything off and bring it in - which I find to be very risky in itself. That guy could lose his job if word got out.

What the , the truck started! It's a little rough but their is no more noise from the engine and it idels at high RPM's. What happened???

If it's running ok now, pull your spark plugs and take a look at them. That might have had something to do with it.

Even if they did (which I'm sure they don't) I don't think these message forums can be used as evidence in a warranty case unless it was a more serious situation. That could all change once a case comes up in court and a ruling is actually challenged involving a BB.

A kid who owned one of those WRX Subaru's did something like this, and tried to scam a few dealers into fixing his car for free under warranty. He posted all of the information pertaining to what he was doing on a Subaru BB, much like this board. Then, several BB members informed the dealers of what he was trying to do. I don't know if it ever went to court. But, the other members didn't want to be associated with someone like that because it gives ALL enthusiasts a bad name...

NX, just take your truck to a dealer, or qualified mechanic, bend over and pay what you owe to fix it. It's entirely your fault what happened and it is no one else's responsibility to fix. You play, you gotta pay.

I'm not trying to be a d*ck, just trying to shed some reality on the situation. Sometimes, reality sucks. If it makes you feel any better, when I was running 18lbs of boost on my old Supra, I once roasted a $200 HKS Steel headgasket due to detonation, which is what I think you experienced. That was about a $4000 rebuild...

I have no problems paying for it! I just want to know what happened so I don't make the same mistake's. I will lower the nitrous to a 75 shot. Jason at F2Uning said the motor can handle it, if it's done right!

A Boost for Fast Cars
At room temperature, N2O is quite unreactive with most substances, including alkali metals, halogens, and even ozone. It is therefore widely used as a propellant in aerosol cans in place of the CFCs which can damage the ozone layer. When heated sufficiently, however, N2O decomposes exothermically to N2 and O2.

If this reaction occurs in the combustion chamber of an automobile, 3 moles of gas would be produced from 2 moles, providing an extra boost to the piston, as well as liberating more heat. It also has a number of other benefits. The increased oxygen provides more efficient combustion of fuel, the nitrogen buffers the increased cylinder pressure controlling the combustion, and the latent heat of vaporisation of the N2O reduces the intake temperature. Therefore N2O is occasionally injected into the fuel lines of racing cars to give more power to the engine and to give the car exceptional acceleration.

You still might want to pull the heads to check for damage.

someone wrote on here that dealers like doing warranty work. Thats not quite true. Yes they get to bill toyota for it. But toyota does not pay them $60+/hr to do it. They get paid a lot less, not sure what the exact number is. So the dealer would rather have the mechanic working on a car that the customer is paying for.

I was told by a service advisor (that I actually trust) that recall campaigns and the like were 80% of normal labor charges. I would imagine that warranty work would be similar...not sure though.
