Tundra BIg Brakes on 96 4runner

i finally did it. It feels way better, no wobble, no fade and very responsive.

I did have the 231 mm calipers and pads with 2002 4runner alloys.

yes, this is pretty much just a straight bolt in upgrade, depending on the type of wheels you have some may need spacers or you may have to grind a small amount off the back of the wheels to clear the calipers.

I had the same rims you have but I just changed to 17" Tundra rims... anyone know if these will fit that rim without spacers?

How do you adjust the rears so that they brake proportionally harder as well? Can I assume the 3rd gens have an LSPV like previous 4Runners? If the front brakes are doing all the work, the truck pitches forward harder when brakes.

i didn't. its just bolt in. 17 inch rims? NO PROBLEM. Some 16" rims have been reported to rub. But I have 2002 runner rims. You hVE TO also grind or bend back a portion of the dust covers. (they rub)

You also have the option of doing the smaller tundra break upgrade which is 199mm as opposed to 231mm

only difference is the calipers, 199mm has the SWE13 stamping

I chose to do the 199mm upgrade seeing as I have the 16 inch split 3 spoke wheels.

Those slotted rotors look purdy, and your trim on the dust shield looks good too, nice work.

I did the 199mm upgrade as well and am still waiting to hear testimony from someone who has been behind the wheel of both upgrades for comparison
