anyone know if my 94 would have been fitted with a high flow cat as stock equipment? i think i've read newer tacos and runners may have them (search didn't help find it).
flip-side: ever seen any data that some engines run better with some back pressure?
trying to decide if a high flow cat is next (whether it would greatly enhance the header, flowmaster and 2.25).

I think good amounts of back pressure help with torque... reducing back pressure too much could be harmful... or just inconvenient. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in... good luck!

Most all "modern" cats are essentially high-flow units. High-flow is mainly a marketing term stemming from the early days of catalytic convertors. Early cats used a block of fused beads that the exhaust gas flowed through. Then a new honeycomb design came into use for higher flow and were marketed as such. Nowadays, most, if not all cats use the honeycomb design. There are some higher flowing cat designs available that use longer inlet and outlet transitions, etc. You could probably get some benefit from one of those, but it would be very small.
