Hey, I think my 92 truck needs a new starter, and I have a 91 camry, would the starter from the camry fit in the truck?

Does it need a new starter or new contacts? Difference is about $200 for starter and about $7-$20 for starter contacts. There is a lot of good info on this subject if you do a search.

Mine needed new contacts. When I tried to start it, it just clicked.

22re is the engine. I think its the stater all together.

Very rare for the starter to completely die. What are the symptoms? If you get no operation or just a loud click, its likely the copper contacts inside the solenoid, or a wiring problem to the starter. Since it seems to have been a persistent failure, slap a volt meter on the solenoid terminal, hit the key and see what voltage you get. If its a solid 12V, pull the starter and open it up for a look. It'll be very obvious if the contact are worn, you'll see it clearly.

Well it woundnt start (no turn over, nothing) just heard a sound. All wiring is fine, checked that. But I hit my starter with a hammer and it started up that day and it started right up 2 days after that. Maybe I just hit a dead-spot maybe? Or I do need new contacts.

Sounds a lot like contacts, when they wear, they do so unevenly (one contact on each side) and then the one side wears down lower, the round plunger pulls into the solenoid bore, the brass contact ring hits the higher (unworn) contact and tries to hit the other contact. But since it has worn lower, the plunger gets cocked inside the bore and sticks. The hammer will often knock it free so it makes contact. It may also just be dirty as well. Either way, open uo the solenoid cover and have a look. Its a trivial repair either way. Details on my web page that I posted earlier. Whatever you do, don't swap the OEM starter for a no-name rebuilt one. They often come with a lifetime warrantee and all that does is guarantee you'll be swapping in replacement starters for a lifetime, the rebuilts just don't last like the OEM starter does.
