Repainting rollbars, sliders, etc.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what type of paint to use to repaint rollbars, sliders, etc.?? I have a rollbar that needs a repaint, but I'm looking for the right type of paint that will be tough enough that I can at least wrap a bungee cord around without rubbing the paint right off.
Any suggestions?? (I can't afford to powerdercoat, so that's not an option.)
Thanks!

I'll second the POR-15 nod, I use it on my sliders and bumpers and it works great. Holds up to rock chips and scrapes and does an excellent job controlling rust:

I've hear that the bed liner material will peel off the bottoms of sliders if its scraped over a rock. Works fine on the upper surfaces where its good for added traction when standing on the slider.

POR-15 is very good. I think that you can paint it on dirt and it will stick.
It is UV sensitive though and you will need to topcoat it.
My Stubbs Sliders are in the basement right now with the third coat of POR-15 drying.
They make a chassis-black that is almost as tough and an excellent topcoat for POR-15.
Great company with which to deal also.

someone told me using a bedliner on rollbars is BAD..........he said he raced offroad trucks and they rhinoed the rollcage and he said it held up good until he crossed the finish line of a race that had a jump and the whole roll cage fell off when he landed
they did the frame also and couldnt see stress fractures in the frame or rollcage which both needed replacing and he was lucky he didnt need that rollcage
i should have used por-15 on my sliders and axle but just rattle canned it i will redo when i get some por-15
