Rear Spoiler Mod.
My '03 didn't come with the factory spoiler option, and I'm glad 'cause I don't really care for how it looks. But, after this winter, I really miss the rear spoiler my old S-10 had. It seemed to do a good job of keeping the rear glass clear when moving. I saw an older 4Runner last week (not sure of year) with a rear spoiler that looked a lot like the black wing the S-10 had. I'm wondering how much trouble it would be to adapt an older spoiler to the 4th gen, and if anyone has already tried it?

Never mine, duh.... I just checked your web site. I see you come from snow territory also. How does it work as far as keeping the rear glass clear while driving? Is it a PITA to clear snow off the roof with it there?
Thanks, Gary

nah, its not particularly incredible at keeping the rear window dry, but it does the job fine.. i mean, if you clean your roof off at all, itll work perfectly.. but if not, it will of course let SOME wisps of snow down.. thats just inevitable.
ive had no problems brushing the snow off the roof.

I like the 2003/04s but one of the things I dislike is the so-called euro-style spoiler - it would look better on a minivan, NOT on a Runner. I don't know why they didn't retain the 2nd/3rd gen's angled design, which looks a whole lot better and less cheesy.

I would much rather have the older one. I see from the pics that it has the third brake light built in. I wonder how hard it would be to mount to the door?

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I think the old ones are ugly as sin. They make me think of SUVs in the 80's or something. I am still working on getting my lund windjammer painted (thanks Blue). The ones Jason Burtman has are nice too.
That factory spoiler... Ick!

Too bad the older ones are too small to mount on the 4th...
Just keep it the way it is now and maybe someday they will come out with a "retro" spoiler to fit the 4th gens

I bought the EGR rear spoiler and I like it much better than the stock 3rd gen version,it's clear smoke and blends with the rear end's lines.
Maybe EGR will have a 4th gen available soon.

I wish I had a camera since it seem very few people have the EGR spoiler. PerfProducts sells it but the pic on the site doesn't make it look right but it's a nice piece and looks good from the side.
I got mine locally for $60 installed which in reality only took them maybe a whole 20 minutes.
