o/s off?????
The "o/s off" light came on my 98 4-runner. Does anyone know what that means? I am unable to find the manual.

no i am not, it's not acutally my truck, I know nothing about cars. I am just borrowing it and the light came on. I was scared I did something wrong. I just want to make the light go off.

Ok, well I thought you were messing with me or something. :pat:
Yeah, its the overdrive button. You have disabled the overdrive, which is kinda of like a 4th gear. You will notice that the RPM's will be higher as you drive around town and especially on the freeway with the O/D light on.
You did not hurt anything, but for the best economy push the button back in.

EDIT:
Sorry, not laughing at you Sunaly
I probably don't know that much more than you - I was just laughing at Christian's response

Its been a while since I had my Auto Tacoma...was the OD button on the left or the back of the shifter? For some reason I think it was on the back.
Seriously, who knows? Its bugging me now.

eveyone has to start somewhere, right?
Christian:
I think it's always on the left side - so the driver can see it and not have to only feel for it.
