PreRunner
New to new Toyota trucks.
What is the differences between the PreRunner and the regular 2wd truck. Is it worth the extra money? I really don't need 4wd but I do spend a lot of time on fire roads and deep in the countryside.

Prerunner has the same suspension as a 4WD. It also has the same clearance - the mini will probably give you a harder time on the fire roads.
I don't know the conditions of your roads but if you get the Prerunner with the TRD, the rear locking diff should help you a lot should the roads become a little harder to manage.
Oh and here are some of my pictures

PreRunner is a 4x4 basically (same suspension), just missing the transfer case and front axle.
So a regular 2wd is a softer or less ruggade suspension.
Check out the pictures of my PreRunner DC:

I am pretty happy with mine so far.

Not sure if its still the case, but the standard 4x2 used to have a different frame than the 4x4/PreRunner had.
The others were right, the PreRunner is basically identical to a 4x4, minuse the front axle, diff and t-case.
The PreRunner was made for people who like the looks of a 4x4 but who dont really drive off-road much or use 4-wheel-drive much and would appreciate the fuel milage of a 4x2.

Yeah, Your going to be alot better off with the Prerunner and worth the extra money. The standard 4X2 is a good little truck but would cost more to get it to compare to a Prerunner when it comes to those Fire Roads.
