Newest mod
Dunno if I could call this an offroad mod but it is offroad related 
Last weekend I went out with Jennifer into the Irvine estuary and biked around a little. We somehow ended up at a local mall before we headed back.
Lots of fun
So here's the mod. It's actually not new for this truck - I had it on before but moved its location.
I picked up the parts from Performance Bikes last year:
...and while we're looking in the back of the truck - my Jerry can

That is a great place to go biking, Peter. When I went to UCI (we won't say how long ago) I used to ride with friends down the estuary, we called it the back bay, down to Newport and Balboa Island. Found it very relaxing....

You say you moved the location of the bike mounts...where did you have them before? I'm trying to figure out how to mount them on the front lip of my bed, but it looks like it would be a real PITA to get the hardware in there. Any thoughts?

Roger, you might try "well nuts". I couldnt find them at any hardware store. I had to go to a specialty "fasteners" store. They are expandable grommets that you drop into a hole, that you can't get to the back side of. They are tough rubber, so they stay put, but pop out when you remove the bolt.
I bought a whole box of em'. They are real handy

I had them mounted to the wheel wells - didn't really like it though. I've seen people with the same mounts installed on that bed lip below the rear windows and they just used some fat screws with deep threading (I have no idea what to call them or how to describe them :pat: )

We were tempted to go further but Jennifer wasn't feeling all that confident with her brakes so we stayed on the flat stuff and off the streets as much as possible.

Kayaking is cool too
we've been there before to kayak and thought about doing it again but the wind was making some of the water a bit choppy and we watched a few kayakers having difficulty with it so we decided against the water.
As for the disclaimer - you know there's ALWAYS that one person who's got to make the wisecrack...

Dino is in need of some minor minor hip surgery for which I do not have the tools for - I'm not comfortable taking off the third to replace a snapped bolt.
Unfortunately, I'm now at the busiest time of the year at work (promoting, training, interviewing, training, hiring, training, etc) and haven't had the time to call up Protrux for an appointment.
Soon enough though... it breaks my heart to see it sitting on the curb like that
