My truck is really slow

Today I drove an 86 1 ton pickup 2wd, and I was suprised at how fast it was compared to my truck. The 86 had a 22re and a K&N replacement. My truck is a 92 4wd 22re 5 speed and it is really slow compared. I know having bigger tires(31s) will slow it down a bit but it hardly pulls in 5th gear below 55mph... if at all. Anyone else running a simliar setup to mine, is your truck really that slow? Also anyone know what the best way to get power out the the 22re. I have a NWOR cam and FIPK k&n kit.

Thanks
Austin

Get it tuned properly. After a cam and about 2 hours getting everything dialed in my 83 was actually decently quick, at least it was faster than before. Clean your injectors, make sure your fuel filters are clear, check timing, change the plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

I would go with OEM plugs which are probably Denso or NGK.

I bet the 1ton has some pretty high gears which will make it seem like it has more hp.

actually low gears will give you better acceleration. however, a '90 4x4 and the '86 2wd 1 ton probably both have 4.10s(4.30s if the 1 ton has the tow package), the 1 ton has a lower profile, less weight and smaller tires so that all probably has a lot of effect

my 2wd drove like a rally car, my 4x4 drives like a VW bus!

he said he has a known exhuast leak and that hurts a lot... otehr than that, he rode in mine the other day and was like wow!!!!

It says in your sig. that it has a rusted out muffler. Probably has a bunged up cat too. How is the clutch? That could also be the cause.
