Has anybody ever driven their Highlander at freeway speeds with the rear windows open? If not, try it.

Same experience as climbing aboard a helicopter with its roters turning. Thump-thump-thump. Excruciating.

If this is so common, why don't I see more complaints about it? Is everybody just a fan of climate-controlled a/c or heating? No fresh air freaks out there?

Same thing with my 98 with only the roof open at 30-40mph. Its just massive amounts of moving air with no place to go. Just open the rear windows to equalize the pressure and you should be fine.

I don't have that problem with my 4Runner. I just open them and not worry about it. No problems at all. :fireman:

Oh, well I didn't say that to be mean! LOL...but if you think about it, the Highlander is basically a big box driving down the road. There will be alot of turbulance associated with that when the air passes over it. I know that is probably the reason that it happes. But like I said, I didn't mean to sound mean about that. I try to be never mean! :fireman:

My '90 Runner caused a lot of turbulence with the rear window down, before the deflector mod. Now even at highway speeds there is just a nice bit of circulation with the window all the way down, just what the doctor ordered since I don't have A/C.

If you crack the rear passenger windows, the noise problem goes away. also, i don't advise driving around with the rear window open anyway. exhaust flows right up into the cab. it's hell trying to get the headliner cleaned! trust me.
