Engine Life??

What is the average life of a 3.0L in the yota's, if all proper servive has been done??

Just curious cause mine hit 275,000 km's and want to know if i should start looking for a replacement engine.

Start looking for an engine when you see smoke or hear noises. No one can tell you how long they'll last. A lot of 3.0's blow up from headgasket failure's long before 100K miles. Many last 250K+. Just depends on what day of the week and what kind of mood the assembly line workers were in the day the put it together, and how the previous owners treated the vehicle. Toyota's are known to be among the most reliable vehicles around, and most other vehicles wouldn't run 170K on one engine. That being said, I think it's always wise to have a little money set back if you have a vehicle with some age/miles on it (even late models as far as that goes) just in case the unexpected occurs.

You should be well into the 200's if the motor was taken care of.
I would say somewhere between 200-300k mi before a rebuild is not out of the cards.
Just do your maintenance religiously.

213,000

Yep...213,000 miles on original 3.0 engine and 5-speed tranny. Doesn't burn or drip oil. Usually only down a half-qt or so at oil change time. Have LOF since new every 3 or 4 thousand miles, good old dino.
Hope to get many more miles from it.
One day I asked the guys running the service shop how many miles I could expect to get out of my engine before I had to replace or rebuild it. They said they couldn't remember seeing one that was properly maintained ever wearing out. Problem is usually a lack of maintainance.

Jim,

Do you get yours serviced at Doxon? They told me the same thing about never being able to wear it out. I was going to buy a new truck about a year ago. After thinking about what he said I figured I would spend my truck money on a boat and see how long I could drive the Toy before it gave up. I'm currently at 155K so it looks like I have some serious driving left.

Hi, Ray

Yes, I take my trucks to Doxon. They have treated me pretty well there. Sure, it's expensive to have them perform the work, but I always get a free loaner and the work is done right. They stand behind what they do. That makes it worth the money, to me anyway.

204,000 miles on mine and it runs great. Changed to M1 synthetic about 8k miles ago and this semms to have made it run better. It does consume some oil but not much, and doesn't leak at all. Like everyone said, regular maintenance is very important.
