do they really work

I have A very nice 1986 4runner called the pumpkin because its gold and the top was prof. painted black. Any ways it has a new 22re with new injectors and all, but it still is gutless. I am looking into buying a complete ceramic exhaust system through downey but I figured maybe someone out there has some real life stories, not just what the seller says. Thank the new guy Don. Let me know if anybody wants to see some pics and maybe i can figure out how to down load them.

Yeah... they work. I wouldn't expect miracles but you will get more out of your 22re with a header and free flowing exhaust. I f you plan on keeping your 22re mostly stock go with 2" on the cat back... maybe look into a free flow cat as well. Downey does sell qulity products, so does LC engineering you may look at there set up also. It also depends what your looking for (top end, torque) you may consider a cam as well.

Thanks for the info flecker. In the city from light to light the pumpkin runs ok, but me,my wife, and my 3 boys have 5 quads and a trailer that weigh in at 3500# and the runner just doesnt want to scream up the mountains.

Oh... probably won't tear up the mountain roads with that kind of tow job. Considered a 350 smallblock . The 22re just doesn't have the guts for that kind of duty. I know the dilema your in, we just use the Tacoma w/ V6 and still it chugs at times.

I put the ceramic coated headers from LC Engineering on my 93 truck with a 22re. It didn't make it much faster, but it did drive much better and had less down shifts. They fit perfectly and didn't show any signs of rust the 3 years I owned it.
