85 was the last year of the solid axle on the 4runner. 86 was the first year of the IFS.

IFS was not a factory option on the '85 4Runner. However, its possible that the previous owner had it coverted over to IFS.

1986 was the first year for IFSux on the 4Runner and the beginning of the now 4th min-van soccer mobile 4Runner. ![]() I don't think I'd buy a vehicle from somebody who doesn't even know what they actually have...

I think I will go check it out and see for myself. It has me wondering
what it could be. I knew 84 and 85 were the years for solid axle. I guess I had a brain cramp. Thanks for all the input. BTW, He is asking $1500.

I read in petersons once that a few IFS Toyota slipped into the 1985 model year.

There are seriously 95 pickups (not tacoma or T100 like you said) that ended up with the 3.4? Do you have any idea how many? There must be a VIN # to look for for these rare trucks if that's the case.
