Has anyone here actually tried the 2.5" daystar spacers on a 3rd gen and had them fail? It seems that everyone is against using them.

I drive my runner everyday. I am on road 98% of the time. I drive at least 2 hour per day on the highway (and I like to go 85-90 MPH). I only go offroad about once a month, and they are moderate trails. I am not doing any rock crawling.

Therefore, this lift seems like a good, economical option for me. I would love to get the OME's all the way around or SAW's up front, but I can't spend the $ right now.

If anyone has actually had a problem with a daystar kit please let me know before I buy one.

P.S. I will, of course, install a 1" drop differential kit as well.

How much have you found for them so far ?
I did a 3" revtek to save money a few weeks back and the kit comes with diff drops, they also make a 2 1/2" kit too so was wondering if the Daystars were that much cheaper..

The 2.5" Daystar kit is about $250 at Wheelers Offroad. The cheapest I have found the Revtek is $300. And only in the 3" front and 2.5" rear kit. I have also heard from people who have tried both that the revtek is kind of stiff. Have you installed yours?

Going to assume you plan on going larger tires too, Thats why I did my lift for too ( needed tires mine were almost bald).
I also found wheelers had the best prices. The ride seemed a little stiff at first that may have been from my old baldind tires now I think it rides like before maybe a little stiffer but it is a truck.

I am also trying to lift the truck equally. The revtek lifts the front 3" and the rear 2.5". My rearend already sits .5" lower than the front. I don't want a 1" difference.

BTW, your truck looks good. Have you tried the Nittos off road? What size are they? And where did you get the center caps?

I also thought the same about the 2 1/2" rears but its not so bad believe it or not but I figure if it gets real bad I can always get new coils in the rear
No I just got the tires and rims last weekend been raining alot so thats the only thing I tried them on and they feel great in the rain and on dry pavemeny (noise if very good I think). There 285/75/R16 and fill the wells nicely. I have heard most that do just 2 1/2 in front have to do some trimming if they go with 285's thats why I did the 3".

neither of those prices include shocks remember, something that you should get with a lift.

for comparison:

front cornfed spacers $135
rear OME coils - $120
TOTAL $255, $5 more than daystar crap.

Add shocks to any of the kits, another $300.

heres what i would do (and did do this a while ago)

front 2.5" spacers: $135 from cornfed or get revtek or other if cheaper
front OME struts: $200
rear OME 890 coils: $120
rear OME shocks: $120

The best thing about them are they are top notch quality built by a toyota member so you know his products are gonna be rock solid.

Alot of tacoma members use cornfed spacers for trail riding so you know they're the good stuff It's cheap and very economical too.

I have a set of rear daystar 2.5" spacers that have never been used that i will let go for $100 which includes shipping...
