Cargo netting
Question of the day:
I've talked to the local Toyota people a couple of times and they tell me that I can't add a factory cargo net to my '97 4Runner because:
a) There are no factory hookups for it
b) It doesn't stretch from floor to just below the top of the rear seats
This seems pretty lame, IMHO. I'm retiring a Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd that has this in the back and it works great. I'd really like to secure things from moving all around in the back w/ the 4Runner too. Any suggestions?

If you want to install it right behind the rear seats, I can't help ya. If you want to install it at the rear hatch opening, just under the tonneau cover, I did that. I had to install an upper set of 'eye hooks' and used the factory lowers. I also used a Pathfinder net as the Yota one has no lower hooks  what good is a bloody 'hammock'? If you need info on how I did the rear net install, I'll take pics.

Well, I guess I'm confused. I saw the one at the dealership and it has no hooks at the bottom. So, I guess I need to find the "right" version to buy and install it.
Also, I don't have the cover, as they said it would cost over $700 to add it (what is this, some kind of options rip-off factory?) to my SR5 that didn't come with one.
Any ideas?

Here is a pic of my net. I have a cargo box, but the net still is handy. I used a Pathfinder net 'cause it has upper & lower hooks. You can enlarge the Webshot pic to see more detail. I installed some marine SS eyehooks through the plastic panel and used large fender washers to back it up. It's solid. The lower hooks grab the factory tie downs on the floor.
As far as your tonneau cover, it is big bucks. The rear 'catch' that lock the cover is semi built in. Metal brackets behind the plastic hold the recessed piece. I'm sure new panels need to be ordered along with the hardware.
