Blown Headgasket D'OH!!

So I got word from the garage today that I have a blown headgasket. I wasn't able to talk $$$ with them and was wandering what a fair price would be. I know it will need the gasket and labor, radiator repair (crack by the filler) and whatever else comes with this install. I tried talking to Toyota but they seemed to be under the impression that the head gasket should blow every 4 or 5 years.....So much for that idea. Actually the engine was replaced so I probably wouldn't have much luck with them anyhow. Let me know if you guys have an idea on prices for this kinda thing. This is the first I've had to deal with these "Toyota problems" so I have no idea. Thanks alot guys.

You might be eligible to have it repaired under recall. Give Toyota your VIN number and see if they'll do it.

That was actually the first thing I did. They said that it had been done once and that it was no longer under warantee. Oh well. Thanks though.

well assuming that there is nothing majorly broken as a result of the HG youre probably looking at the $1600-$2000 range.

part of it will depend on what the shops hourly rate is and if theres any internal damage done by the blown HG.

i had the heads machined smooth by a machine shop and other than that plus labor and gaskets (bout $200 or so) i paid $1600 for mine total.
