Axle Wrapup
So my friend took his 1999 Tacoma Pre-Runner w/ a 3in lift into the dealership since there was a clunk sometimes when starting and stopping. Also it felt as if the rear axle was moving. The clunk turns out there was some water in the diff. but Toyota is telling him he is getting axle wrap up as well. is there any cheaper fix then gettting a whole new suspension.

Axle wrap is common on toyotas and specailly ones lifted with blocks. The blocks magnify the axle wrap.
If your friend wants to keep the existing lift and don't wanna buy new leaf springs, they can install some kicker shocks. They help prevent axle wrap and don't seem to limit articulation that much.
You can see em mounted in between the frame and the leaf springs in this pic. They mount to the frame or front leaf hanger (depending on the ones you get) and the u bolts that hold the leafs to the axle.
or they can fab/buy and install some kind of track bar.
It's best to buy new springs though.
Good luck.
