Is anyone interested in shackle hangers for 2nd gens?
I was looking at Steve's (Sonoran Steel) site and found his 3rd gen runner shackle hangers and thought about making me some for my 2nd gen. runner.
I figured that I would make them out of 1" x 2" solid bar and have them machined. That way there would be no welding needed, since I don't have a welder, yet . I would include shackles and might be able to get them powder coated for extra.
I was looking under the rig tonight and noticed that my towhook stuck out some, that also might be because my lower valance is bent too ? From looking at my rig, there would need to be a 3/4" x 2" notch cut out of the valance so the shackle hanger would not hit the valance. Now agian that is just on my rig with a bent up valance, so next time I see a '90-'91 and '92-'95 runner parked I will pop under the front reall quick to see if a non-bent valance would need cut. So who would be interested in a pair of these if all the modifocation needed at most would be to cut a 3/4" tall by 2" wide notch out from each side of the valance?
Here is a link to Steve's (Sonoran Steel) hangers: Sonoran Steel Shackle Hangers
So what are your thoughts?
Thanks

I looked into making them for 1st and 2nd Gens but found the mounting area is too small for the current design.
You are on the right track haveing them machined, they will be smaller, but I think it might be expensive.
The 3rd Gen 4Runners and Tacomas have the hooks back further and the frame extends out more than the older trucks.
For reference my hangers are 6" long.
Good Luck.

I have also found that folks with older vehicles are not as interesed in buying things but more into trying to make the parts themselves.
So in the future I'll expand into 4th Gens, not back to 1st and 2nd Gens.
All-Pro has that area covered. I am currently making a rear bumper for a 1986 4Runner, but it is going to be a 1 of a kind custom bumper, not a product to be added to the line.

Also, while at the yota dealer today, I dove under a non-bent front valance on a '90-'91 runner and a '92-'95 runner and they would need to be trimmed some, depending on the design.
Thanks
