After market LC coils for 98 runner

I was wondering if it would be possible to use the stock ride height OME front LC coils and shocks for my 98 runner lift. I can't find any original coils in my neck of the woods. Slee offroad sells the stock ride coils and was wondering if that would be another option for the rear. If so, would anybody know what the coil number to use? I see they have 861 which is 1/4 inch lift and 851 is 2 1/2 inch. Thanks for the help.

Lift related - JWaldz , did you use 2 rubber spacers on your front shocks or just one?
I think my kit is missing a set of rubber spacers.

Ryani , are you talking front of your 4Runner or rear? I think the LC FJZ80 coils will only work in the rear of the 4runner.

(from http://cruiseroutfitters.com/tech_OME_coils.html)

OME Part # | Spring Rate (lbf/in) | Bar Dia.(in) | Free Height(in) | General Application
OME 851 | 220 |.669 | 18.70/19.09 | 80 Series

Those are just about the only 80 series OME spring you would be able to run in the rear of your 3rd Gen and they would be a 5-6" lift spring, depending on weight. I looked hard at these coils as the LX450 coils I was running were just not cutting it. Turns out the LX450 coils are waaaaaaaay softer (much lower spring rate) than most of the LC80 coils. Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters helped me dial in a correct spring for the weight I would be running when loaded down. We measured all sorts of 80 coils he had in stock that were take-offs from 80s he's installed OME lift kits onto.

In the end, we went with some 9.5 wrap LC80 coils that he had. I can't remember exactly what the spring rate and free height was but I want to say they were about 180 lbf/in and a lil over 19" free-height. (I'll get in touch with Kurt as he has it all written down in a notebook.) With an aftermarket rear bumper with dual swingouts and a RTT up top, and some tool boxes and spare tire in the back, I'm sitting at about 4" to 4.5" lift in the rear. The ride is great IMO, though I still need to give them a rigorous offroad test.

I don't think the 851s are going to be what you're looking for unless you are carrying a TON of weight out back and/or looking for a large lift amount. And they are going to be pretty damn stiff without any weight on them btw... I would suggest continuing to look for some used LC80 springs. I know Kurt has a few sets sitting around his place and he'll be able to help you figure out which ones would work best if you tell him your intent and purpose of your rig.

As for shocks, I'm running OME N74e which are suggested for LC80 rear 2.5" lifts. Taller than that on an LC80, and they suggest the N74L. Again from memory here, but I think the N74e measures 14" compressed and 24" extended. I know i had almost exactly 5" uptravel and 5" downtravel, (I'll get this info from Kurt as well.) And again, so far I couldn't be happier with the way these shocks feel.

Thanks so much for all the info. I appreciate it greatly. I'm going to call cruiser outfitters and will keep my eye out around here for some springs.

thanks again
