I have searched and searched and found nothing concrete on this topic. Will 285/75-16 Nitto Terra Grapplers rub on the UCA or other parts with TRD Tundra front coils installed? Will I need wheel spacers?

On SS website it says that 285's can be run on stock wheels with little or no trimming. Item #9 at the bottom of the page in the FAQ section. http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_co..._liftkits.html

If this is not true, would wheel spacers such as thesework with gorilla studs to make up for the threads lost due to the spacer? Do not really want to widen my front end by 2.5" using spidertrax spacers or similar.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated as I have exhausted my searching efforts and only found alot of conflicting information.

im running 285s on a ome 3'' its really close and will rub a little at full lock plan to get some 1/4'' wheel spacers to help a little

SS is correct, some rub and some don't. It will be close - within about a 1/4". I have 2 used, good quality 1" hub-centric wheel spacers w/ bolts. I had them on the rear and decided they weren't needed. If you're interested, PM me. I'll sell them for a lot cheaper than what they're going for on the website you linked us to.

You can also probably get away with just running 1/4" spacers - w/o having to run new bolts. Just throw them in-between and you should still have enough threads to put the lug nuts on.

Im running 285s and my tires dont rub at all with the OME 882 lift. I can turn them all the way and have no problems but i am only about 1/4" from the Upper arm control so i plan on getting some 1.5" wheel spacers...

mine rubbed a little till i put on a 1/4 inch spacer. i also trimmed the front fender for a little extra clearance.

skydivingdude. be careful with those larger wheel spacers. i now have 1 incher spacers and a 1 inch body lift along with my sonoran steel 1.2 lift and i had to trim a little more on the bumper side of my front wheel well. it all looks bad A$$.

Do you mean that without spacers, the tire will be within 1/4" of the UCA, or a different part? The SS site makes it sound like it will only be close to plastic parts which can be trimmed easily to eliminate the problem.

I am running Tundra 17" 10 spoke wheels with 285s and a 1/4" spacer with the original studs. Works great and I have no rubbing issues. I also have a set of 16" Pro Comp 7089 with 4.25" backspacing and 285 MTs and those don't rub either. I run the same Tundra Coil/OME lift as you. Hope that helps!

The main problem for me without the spacers was rubbing on the Upper Control Arm. This isn't an issue with the 1/4" spacer, you can almost fit your finger between the UCA and tire now. This is with a BFG AT tire, so a MT might be a bit tighter.

swperic. did u have rubbing before the body lift? im just wondering bc im not rubbing at all with only the 882s in front but the census i got was that a 1" body lift would be neded to not rub.... but ya i wasnt sure on the 1" or 1.5" wheel spacer so since yall tell me it seems a bit big ill prob just go with the 1" ones.

Yes, I mean the the UCA. It'll either be touching it or about a 1/4" away - depending mostly on if you're running ATs or MTs. You'll probably have to trim your plastic fender skirts and pound the pinch weld flat w/ a hammer.

before the body lift i rubber the UCA at full turn until i put 1/4 inch spacers on. but then i rubbed the bumper a little. trimmed it in 30 seconds with hacksaw. then when i put the BL on i was nowhere near rubbing anything. then i put the 1 inch wheel spacers on and i rubbed the front bumper again. slightly more trimming and i am rub free. it wont mater once i get to working on my steal bumper

What brand/type of 1/4" spacer did everybody use? Did you install new lug nuts or studs? Did you experience any wobble, vibration or balance issues?

I would prefer to use 1/4" spacers in order to get a more "even" stance (width) front to back, but do not want to induce any new issues with not being able to get the wheel centered on the hub during install.

Does anybody know how far the wheel locating flange of the hub protrudes past the face of the caliper mount? If I were to use a 1/4" or 5mm spacer would enough of the wheel locating flange protrude past the spacer to keep the wheel centered?

my brake rotors are soo warped that's part of the minor vibration issue but i just got some 6x5.5 wheel spacers i didn't notice any vibration issues when installed rides just as good as it did before

I'm running 1/4in spacers and they are fine with the wheels full lock one way, but i get a touch of rubbing still turned the other way (edit rubbing on the frame that is). 285 Duratracs with a SS1.2 btw.
