'01½ ISR mod??
I was doing my plugs this weekend and had to remove the IS to get to the coil overs anyway, so I figured what the hell, I'll go ahead and do the ISR mod Dr. Z wrote up. While under the hood, I noticed my FPR reconnects weren't exactly as Dr. Z's write-up ('96-'02 rigs) noted nor exactly as ALBPM's write-up ('02 rigs) either. My '01 rig fell somwhere in-between the two (2001½??).
My intake plenum actually has a connection port (nipple) in the front (like Dr. Z's, but unlike ALBPM's), but it's capped off. So instead of using the Tee (Dr. Z's) or vacant steel line (ALBPM's) write-up's mention, I uncapped the front port on my intake plenum and used a 6" piece of Napa H-460 EVAP tubing to connect my newly uncapped intake plemun port to the steel FPR line (right in front where the old line used to be). Total cost of the mod was $0.78.
I have to say the Midas Muffler guy was awesome. When I explained what I was looking for/try to do, he cut/expanded a scrap piece of 2½ and gave it to me with a hand shake and a smile. Nice guy!
Truth is, I actually could've re-used the OEM FPR tubing from removing the IS. All I would've need to do is trim an inch or two off each end (to eliminating the over expanded ends from the old connections). Total cost of the ISR mod using the OEM tubing would've been $0.00. I elected to keep the OEM tubing in case I ever wanted to replace the IS (not that I will).

Will do. Thanks <96 Runner>. I always run 89 (mid) with a couple oz. of Amsoil's PI with every tank full. Hopefully the PI that will make a difference and keep me out of the high grade stuff...

The red "FPR" text is right above the original FPR connection/tube. ALBPM's green arrow points to where your capped off intake plenum port should be (remember, ALBPM's '02 doesn't have one). The red line indicates where your new ISR mod'ed connection between the uncapped intake plenum nipple and the FPR should now go.
Basically, leave the original FPR tubing connected to the steel line (as shown in the image), roll the original FPR tubing 180° to the left, snip off an inch or two, and connect it to the uncapped intake plenum nipple. You're done!
