Anyone heard anything about this tire? I've had 2 sets of Bridgestone/Firestone tires on my truck (both ATs) and was very happy with them. It's time to step up to an MT, and these look pretty impressive. Lugs appear to be spaced a bit wider than most MTs I've looked at. They are also cheaper than most of the big name MTs (BFGs, MTRs, etc.).

wasnt firestone the company that made the tires for some car manufaturer SUV that was involed in many tire blow outs and subsequent rollovers????

yea... I've got to believe they've got the problem fixed though. They wouldn't be in business if they were still making defective tires.

you would think so wouldn't you, but then again ford is still making vehicles and they all seem to be defective.

I think public opinion is still hurting them. I like the look of that tire, but am hesitant to try them just because of their track record. BFG and Goodyear have an untarnished reputation IMO.

I've been toiling over tires recently. I want something pretty aggressive with good treadwear and not alot of noise. In light of all the bad press the MTR has been getting, I'm thinking of trying the Firestones. I was seriously looking at the MTR's, but their price per tire jumped from $156 to 167 in a week at Sam's club - not the bargain I'd hoped for. I've been a long time BFG AT user, but want something a little more agressive. The BFG Mud TA is just too noisy for me - and pretty short treadlife I've heard.

For the 33x12.5R15's I want, I got a quote from a Firestone service center for $750 mounted including tax and all the other charges involved with tires these days . They started with a $171 price per tire, $20 road hazard, and the mounting/taxes etc - then put in discounts totalling about $140. I think I'll go get these mounted today...

They are still my first choice, but it doesn't look like I'll be replacing my current tires till spring time. I've read a lot of good things about them. Everyone who has them loves that (as near as I can tell), but no one has had them for any length of time because they are still relatively new. People say traction (on and off-road) and road noise are very good, but because they are still relatively new, there is little info about tread wear or long term sidewall strength.

They have gotten tremendous marks on Tirerack, but again, they've seen relatively little miles to this point.

correct me if I am wrong but dosnt firestone make bridgestone. Every one seems to love bridgestone tires (at least from what I have seen on yotatech and 4x4wire). If they are the same company than the tires sould be the same quality I would think. Then again I could be wrong.

Actually, I think it's the other way around... Bridgestone owns Firestone, but your point is correct. You'd think many of the same principles and quality would carry over to the firestone line, but because of all the trouble firestone had with the Exploders, public opinion of them suffered quite a bit. Also, I think Firestone is Bridgestone's midgrade line (at least in terms of prices). Dayton is their low-cost line of tires. I've had 1 set of firestones, 1 set of BFGs and 1 set of bridgestones. I loved the firestones and the bridgestones, but hated (and yes, I mean hated) the bfgs.
