Bead-Lock wheels or a waste of money?

I've been looking at Bead-locks for a little while now, after experiencing the pitfalls of blowing out a tire on a recent trip twice. I keep telling myself I don't need them but....

I'm just curious if anyone has some input on the matter. specifically I like the products from High Impact bead-lock wheels and Spider-lock wheels. Both seem like great products.
Although I am not looking for aesthetics to be the most important but more like the function and quality. Any input is greatly appreciated.

"blowing out a tire" implies an exploded tire. I'm guessing you lost a bead though?

Additional info about your trips would help provide answers. IE: Tire pressure during said pitfalls, wheel/tire specs, etc.

I was running 12LBS at one point which seamed to do really well for the soft sandy stuff. My last trip was near Glamis dunes. I didn't air back up when I started crawling around in the desert rocks when I lost the bead at the rear. Im running 285/75/16 and cast aluminum wheels. I plan on running 315's soon, like the Goodyear Kevlar or the MT's. Most of my trips have been in the Sierras and Im planning a Rubicon trip this summer.

Most bead-locks aren't street legal. Check with your state regs. There are some inner bead locks that don't mess with the integrity of your rims.
