Carb on the 350?
I just did the same thing. You can get rid of virtually ALL of the wires coming from the ECU. I did this, but had to run 3 or 4 new wires. I ended up having no ignition power. I ran a power wire from the AM1 80 main fuse under the hood to the ignition. I also ran a toggle switch to a relay, the relay to the HEI distributor coil. Powered the relay from the AM1 I kept the stock starter solenoid wiring intact, so I can turn the truck over with the keyswitch. I kept the stock wires for the headlights/turn signals, horn, and temp/oil sensors. All of these wires are on a separate harness than what comes out of the ECU. I ran a new power wire from the battery to the AM1 fuse and to the starter. Ran a new ground cable from the battery to the frame, frame to the block, and frame to the body. If you have any other questions just ask.

No. Thought about it, but chose against it, for a few reasons.
I'd have to buy a pressure regulator to limit the pressure to 5-7psi for the carb. Regulators are like $75 Then I'd have to wire it up to yet another switch and relay. I already have one switch for the ignition power, and another for the fan power. Dont want another. Its not really nessisary when you can just use the stock mechanical pump. I see no advantage using an electric pump with a carb on a mild engine. Plus, I was able to sell the pump for $25 ![]() What I did was removed the pump from the bracket, found one of the steel lines (previously the return line I think) that reached the farthest down into the tank, traced that line to the front of the truck, and plumbed that into the carb. My only worry is that, without a fuel sock in the tank, it could pick up debris, but I should be able to see debris in the clear "G2" fuel filter right before the carb.

I havent had enough time on it yet to say anything. Maybe 100 miles.
It has held up to about 5 burnouts though ![]() It will be fine though. I'm using the R150 V6 transmission, which is the same trans used in the Supra, known to hold up to 600hp. The 4cy trans will not last though.

Any updates on the swap? Looks like I will have to go check it out in person. I am also leanin towards a SBC swap. It will be fuel injected though.

Keep it mild and go easy on the skinny pedal and you should be OK.
That being said, its VERY hard to keep out of the skinny pedal. I'm already looking into making a tracbar setup to cut back on wheel hop (so I can do some REAL burnouts)

yea..i love my skinny pedal...lol..but i think..as long as im not hard on it..i'll be ok..thinking maybe a 305 chevy will be a better choice..lol..little less HP...im not looking for a HARDCORE motor..i just want something stock..stock 350 is about 260HP...which is WAYYYY MORE THAN ENOUGH..with that much HP..it'll make that toyota fly down the road no problem at all
